The culture of Rajasthan is also seen in the colorful festivals that the city celebrates in unity. One of the most important festivals of the city is the Elephant Festival which is celebrated in the month of March. This is followed by the Holi or the festival of colors. A huge procession is held which comprises of elephants, horses, camels and folk dancers. The events which follow after this include a polo match, tug of war between men and elephant and elephant race. Gangaur festival is a beautiful celebrated in honor of Goddess Gauri. Women on this day pluck flowers, draw water from wells, and chant festival hymns.
Cuisine also forms an important part of the culture of Rajasthan. The real delicacies of Jaipur were cooked in the royal kitchens which you can find in the restaurants now. Some of the popular delicacies of Jaipur Dal-Bati Churma, Mawa Kachori, Besan Ka Gatta, Dahi Vada, Pyaaz Ki Kachauri, Ker Sangri, and Chakke Ki Sabji. People are vegetarian here. One of the best things that you get to see here are the attires of the people here who were the typical Rajasthani costumes which are high on embroidery, with mirrors and glitters and lot of silver and semi precious stone jewelleries. The clothes are always bright colored. One of the most eye catching parts of these attires is the huge turbans which the men wear
and their long moustaches. The main language of the city is Marwari.
